Another great week of froth and stoke in our Blast Off community and plenty of hot new video’s making our decisions difficult and the sponsors stoked sharing their products with the kids.
We finally sorted out prizes for our winners from Brazil Anuar Chiah and Ryan Coelho.
Ryan is getting a pack from our friends at Future Fins and Anuar a coaching voucher from myself that can be used in person or for video coaching.
Then I connected Alieen and Dylan Wilcoxen with the people at Hurley and SunBum and a pack from each is heading the brother and sisters way. That catches you up and ready for this weeks winners and what they received.
Clip of the week winners
GIRLS
Again in our High Performance category for the girls from week 4 we got down to 2 clips that we couldn’t split and so it was time for two winners for the week.
One a goofy-footer from the northern hemisphere and one natural-footer from the southern hemisphere. Hawaii’s, Chesney Guinotte @chesney_guinotte and Lennox Head’s Ocea Curtis @ocea.curtis. Both of these 11 years olds have fire in their eyes and a focus on a career as a pro surfer. Congratulations girls, you are both on track for greatness and we’re sending each of you a prize pack from our great friends @hurley @hurley_anz
BOYS
Our High-Performance Clip of the Week for the Boys in week 4 was another super tight decision and in the end, I figured two winners are always better than one.
Both these videos are of young groms charging in Bali and her surrounds and charging well beyond their years. While both live on Bali, one is a goofy Westen Hirst 12 yrs old and the other a natural 13yr old Kai Hall, such confidence and maturity shown in critical situations by both kids.
Congratulations guys you are our Clip Of The Week joint winners for week 4 and are both receiving prize packs from our mates at @hydroflask.
UPDATE on our Keenest Grom
I wanted to revisit where it all started four weeks ago with the very first video we received and consequently the winner of our “Keenest Grom” award for 2020
Jack Tyro from Kaikoura on the South Island of New Zealand was the guy and he just won the New Zealand title that was his goal and we are all so stoked to see him achieve it.
Congratulations Jack, here is a photo of him getting chaired up the beach after his victory and his video that got us all started, we love it. Thanks @hurley @hurley_anz for Jacks prizes.
Froth levels high
Great doing the Any Kine Live show with my good mate and brother @kaipoguerrero. Loved getting to share about BL Blast Off with people and see the kids ripping. Thanks boys stoked, enjoy.

Eli Hanneman's Tip Of The Week
AIRS
“When you are first starting airs it’s all about gaining that familiar feel of being in the air and coming back down with control.
The more tries you attempt, the more comfortable you will get, so don’t worry about “wasting” a wave or section because you tried an air! It’ll come eventually.
Also, it can never hurt to throw in a grab!
Grabbing your rail will always give you more stability and control while in the air.
Whether it’s before you get in the air or once you’re in the air. I learned by grabbing before I got in the air, but everyone is different. Nothing technical, just an Indy grab with your back hand on your outside rail. “

What we learnt this week
This week we learnt that music copyright is still a bit of a hassle and probably the most common issue we face. Please do not publish your video with music you do not have the rights to use. We suggest googling “copyright free music” and you will find plenty of music to work with. Thanks guys!!
